I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, especially since you were both close and at such a young age.
Hope you'll find some comfort as time goes on.

i hope this thread goes somewhere, and i hope i put it in an acceptable category:.
the wts has spent around 130 years in underhanded practices and cult control.
we can all name at least two practices banned by the un as inhumane.. because of the control of information they have within their ranks and their often litigious nature outside of the "compound" walls, every bit of information on here is crucial in ensuring no one who visits jwn falls for the gimmicks and traps the society works to employ.. there are personal experiences that are troublesome and touching through the experience of freedom after years of endurement.
Cedars, SIAM, jwfacts just to name a couple....atlantis/anony mous with for keeping me ahead with Jeh's chariot...
Hey there....I'm a current JW (physically) and would be happy to assist in your research paper...there's so much to talk about...anything specific you'd like to cover on your research, will you doing a survey to make graphs ect???
we all know how jw brag about their strong internal love.
all are treated equal no matter rank, color, money, status etc.
is this really true?
- The "spiritually weak" were to be avoided.
- Those with "great" FS hours usually hang out with each other.
- There are some who'd just want to work with certain individuals in FS.

it's been nearly 5 years since the letter was read at the end of the service meeting.
the society would lovingly decrease the public talk to a brief 30 minutes, eliminating the 15-minute doom-and-gloom introduction and thereby resulting in lower heating and air-conditioning costs allowing for more "association" after the meeting.... for those who still go to meetings... do you find that there is any more association with the 30-min public talk when compared to the former 45-min public talk?.
please share your observations.. thanks!.
Most folks at my hall go home, except for those who stay back for FS.
let's hope between steven unthanks crusade for justice in helping sexually abused jw children, along with more people speaking out, there will be a ripple affect to other countries!
pastors daniel and laura mccluskey from the church on the word in phoenix have been arrested.
the pastors were both arrested tuesday and booked on one count each of failure to report sexual abuse.
@zid: I'm with you...it's unfortunate that the news cases aren't as widespread about JW's as they are for other churches.

hi everyone, i would like to introduce myself and tell my story.
from the standpoint of being one of jehovahs witnesses, my whole family is deeply involved as i was the 5th generation of witness and any children that my brothers or sister have will be the sixth generation.
as some of my brothers and sisters are grandparents, i guess that makes their grandchildren a potential 7th generation.
Jake:
Welcome and thanks for posting your story....I'm sure you'll contribute much to this board due to your lengthy time as a JW.

to the body of elders in xxxxx.. .
i no longer wish to recognised as one of the jehovah's witnesses due to the fact that i no longer believe that this 'organisation' is truly representing him because :.
i have experienced greater and unconditional love/friendship with the people i am supposed to hate 'worldly people' than i did in this congregation.
Great letter.....enjoy your freedom!

whilst under watchtower influence i had little interest or awareness in these areas.. now they have become a passion.. i wonder if it has something to do with the "cult identity or self" versus the "authentic identity or self" as outlined by steven hassan in the "interacting with dual identities" chapter of his book "releasing the bonds - empowering people to think for themselves".. who has had a similar experience and/or change of career related to unplugging from the watchtower?.
or a story to tell?.
My company does various philantrophic activities for the community....and I've participated in them...
It feel so great to be able to help others...I never liked the WTBS comment about how Jesus primarily focused on spiritual welfare, yet the WTBS is definately in a position to help people like other groups do.

it was announced a few days ago that a good friend of mine from another congregation was disfellowshiped...we knew each other for a few years, really appreciated her company, had a great sense of humor...someone you could talk to and confide in.. i'm still shocked to hear that she was df, she was a pioneer up to january...i'm very familiar with her congregation as i've visited there...we often text and exchange emails quite often.. .
she's not aware that i know of her being d/f...i don't know if she still goes to her to khall and feel really bad for her because after reading some of the stories online of what being d/f can do, i wouldn't want her to go thru that?.
i'd love to contact her and tell her not to worry and perhaps relate some of the experiences from this site along with some of the info i'm finding out...but i don't know if she's going to give in to the fear of being shunned and then tell the elders that i'm an apostate?.
Sad to say my friend hasn't responded to the email I sent her...she usually does...
I guess she's following the protocol of not communicating to active JW's.
